The Largest
Bailiff
A court official who assists the judge
in keeping order in the courtroom and
handles various other tasks for the
judge and court clerk.
Thomas F. Eagleton United States Courthouse.
Located in downtown St. Louis it is the largest
single courthouse in the United States. It is the main
office of the United States District Court for the
Eastern District of Missouri and the United States
Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. The
courthouse is a whopping 29 stories tall and covers
987,775 square feet (91 , 767.3 m2).
The Oldest
King William County Courthouse. Built in 1725, this
is the oldest courthouse still in continuous use in the
United States. It is also the oldest public building
still in use in Virginia. A new and modern county
courthouse was built upon the courthouse grounds
in 2004 however the 1725 courthouse remains in
use for some of the counb/s judicial functions and
proceedings.

Arthur County Courthouse. Built in
1914 for $900, this court house is
a simple wood shack with no
plumbing. It spans 26 x 28 feet. It
served as the ANhur County Court
House until 1961 when it came
what is now the Arthur County
Museum in Nebraska.
