I am extremely happy with the work she has done. I was impressed by how quickly she
picked up the techniques and how well she was able to transition towards independence.
She was able to make the most of her somewhat limited time in the lab, and I am confident
that she will be able to continue to contribute to the research that is going on in the lab,
especially, if/when her schedule frees up a little more.

I wanted to mentor an undergraduate but was having trouble connecting with
students. My department does not have classes for undergraduates or have
a TA-ing requirement so it was especially difficult to get to know potential
mentees. RSP was a great way to find a student who had a demonstrated
interest in research.

Because I get far more requests from undergrads to do work in my lab
than my lab can possibly handle, I like a more organized format that
allows me to interview several students during a week and then select
one of these students.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. My studenthas demonstrated in a very short period of
time enthusiasm and commitment to the learning process. I feel very
enthusiastic to continue mentoring Amy, and perhaps accept a second
student soon.

What I really appreciated from RSP was the discussion at the beginning which
emphasized the expectations of the mentor and student. Tomalei Vess was a great person
to present on the relationship between the mentor and mentee. Each of the three students
I interacted with were respectful, dedicated, and intelligent students. Each student made
significant progress on their respective project. Each student has a lot of potential.
