What color is your
baby poop?
Yellow, green,
orange, or any
combination
of these colors:
Healthy stool - the
colors come from
Ill
digestive juices,
gut bacteria and bile.
-Light brown:
Normal, and more
common in formula-fed
babies.
-Bright red:
Could indicate an
infection or an injury
low in the GI tract,
such as in the small
intestine or colon.
- Black:
Could indicate an injury
occurring high in GI
tract, like the stomach.
-Colorless, ivory:
Could mean no bile is
being secreted by the
liver to digest food.
May be a sign of liver
disease.
-Tarry green-black:
This is meconium, feces
passed just after birth.
It's comprised of
swallowed amniotic
fluid and other
materials ingested
while the infant is in the
womb.
